About Us

Meaghan

Hello! My name is Meaghan! I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember. Years ago during high school I worked for two separate dog show breeders learning the ropes of dog care, puppy care, and puppy raising. During early adult-hood I developed an interest in rescue of small animals like guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, rabbits, etc. I learned the ins and outs of caring for these little friends, and helped so many of them find adequate and loving forever homes. While I no longer have the capability of doing this out of my home, I have still retained all of the knowledge! I brought home my very first adulthood puppy in August 2021 for my 30th birthday, and since then I have jumped right back into the world of dogs. I have a keen interest in dog behavior and body language, and I have put that interest into practice with my history of working in doggy daycares to observe and learn how to break down the language of the interactions between dogs. I am confidently able to monitor and encourage fair play as well as intervene before I see an interaction get "spicy". Now that I own Spotty Dog Hiking, I get to continue working with my passion for dogs, and I would love to become friends with your dogs as well. ♥

Before Spotty Dog Hiking

Before I had the idea for Spotty Dog Hiking, I was the lead daycare counselor at Loyal Companion's Doggy Daycare in Medway. I made this daycare my home, and worked hard to make it a safe, loving, and fun environment for the dogs we had! Most daycares are huge, scary, giant rooms of dogs running around with very few inexperienced people watching them, and high fight/bite rates. What set our daycare apart was that it was small at 6-8 dogs a day, allowing us to give our dogs more 1:1 attention, safely monitor interactions and behavior, and we were able to carefully evaluate new incoming dogs as well as separate dogs that may not get along. We had experience, a passion for learning about and managing dog behavior, and I am proud to say that we never had a fight break out due to our ability to identify the warning signs of dogs that are not getting along ahead of time, and keep them separated or dismiss them from daycare all together. We kept a happy, fun, healthy, and relaxing environment for our pups allowing them to play to their heart's content, as well as providing rest between play sessions. Loyal Companion closed down all of their daycare locations in October 2022, however our dogs and clients were like our family, and I hold this daycare close to my heart. Please enjoy these pictures of our friends from our time there, as well as some kind words from some of our clients who left us reviews on google.
